I've decided to buy a new rear wheel for the LHT. I'm getting a Mavic/Alivio from Wiggle for $80 or so. It's not the most heavy duty wheel, but I am not a heavy rider, and so I expect my gear to last longer than gear for a 100kg dude. I rode (slowly) to Karkula Bushland Park and back with a fully (well almost) loaded trailer today. It is a 22 kilometer return trip and I did it fairly comfortably, though I was really hungry and suffering a little from low blood sugar.
